WordGeek.net does not sell or rent personal information for money. Some privacy laws define “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising more broadly and may treat certain advertising-technology disclosures as covered activity even when no money is paid for personal information. WordGeek.net’s use of Google AdSense and the available advertising and cookie choices are described below.

Cookies, Google AdSense, and Third-Party Tools

WordGeek.net may rely on standard browser, hosting, server, security, analytics, advertising, or platform technologies. These tools may use cookies, log files, web beacons, tracking pixels, IP addresses, embedded content, or similar technologies to operate, secure, improve, measure, or support the website.

WordGeek.net uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve advertisements based on a user's prior visits to WordGeek.net or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies allows Google and its advertising partners to serve advertisements to users based on visits to WordGeek.net and other websites on the Internet.

Users may manage or opt out of personalized advertising through Google's advertising settings and may also manage cookies through their browser settings. Additional choices regarding third-party advertising cookies may be available through applicable industry opt-out services.

Google and other third-party advertising providers may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or similar technologies in connection with advertising, measurement, personalization, and ad delivery. Information collected by third-party services is handled according to the privacy policies, settings, and terms of those providers. WordGeek.net does not directly control the data practices of third-party advertising or service providers. Visitors can review how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services for additional details.

Where required by applicable law, visitors may be presented with consent or privacy choices regarding cookies, advertising technologies, personalized advertising, or the collection and use of information by third-party services.

Voluntary Contributions and Stripe

WordGeek.net uses a Stripe-hosted payment page for voluntary contributions. If you choose to contribute, Stripe may collect payment details, contact information, device or browser information, and transaction information under Stripe’s own terms and privacy practices. WordGeek.net does not directly receive or store the complete card or bank-account credentials that you enter on Stripe’s hosted page. WordGeek.net may receive transaction details and contact information that Stripe makes available for payment records, support, security, and legal compliance. You can review Stripe’s Privacy Policy for more information.

Messages and Sensitive Information

Users are strongly encouraged not to send sensitive personal, medical, financial, legal, employment, account-access, or other highly confidential information unless absolutely necessary. Outside the Stripe-hosted contribution page, WordGeek.net does not request health-related, complete financial-account, government-identification, password, or other highly sensitive information as part of normal website use.

If you choose to send information voluntarily, you are responsible for the content of that communication. While reasonable steps may be taken to protect communications, no internet-based message, email, form, or website transmission can be guaranteed fully secure.

How Information May Be Shared

WordGeek.net may share or disclose information when reasonably necessary to operate the website, respond to communications, protect the website, process voluntary contributions, comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, investigate misuse, or work with hosting providers, email providers, payment processors, security tools, analytics services, advertising providers, or other service providers.

WordGeek.net does not sell or rent personal information to third parties for money. Advertising technologies may involve disclosures that some privacy laws define more broadly as a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, as described in the Cookies, Google AdSense, and Third-Party Tools section.

Data Retention

WordGeek.net may retain communications, transaction records, logs, or related information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including website operation, security, documentation, legal compliance, dispute prevention, troubleshooting, contribution records, or content improvement. Information may then be deleted or archived, subject to applicable legal, accounting, security, and operational requirements.

Your Choices

You may choose not to contact the website, may limit what information you provide, and may use browser settings to block or manage cookies and similar technologies where available. You may also use available Google advertising controls to manage personalized advertising. You may contact WordGeek.net to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that you voluntarily submitted. WordGeek.net may need to verify the request and may retain information when required or permitted for legal, security, accounting, recordkeeping, or operational purposes.

WordGeek.net does not currently operate its own site-wide mechanism that changes website behavior in response to “Do Not Track,” Global Privacy Control, or similar browser signals. Browsers and third-party services may respond to those signals independently. Where applicable law requires WordGeek.net or a service provider to recognize a consent or opt-out preference, the required choice will be honored through the available controls.

Data Security

WordGeek.net uses reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the information and services involved. No website, email, payment service, or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. If WordGeek.net becomes aware of a data incident, it will evaluate and provide notices as required by applicable law.

Children’s Privacy

WordGeek.net is not directed toward children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the website, please contact us so the issue can be reviewed.
